Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein (1994)
Though this is not in order of quality, of course, a film about one of the most popular monsters, Frankenstein’s monster, is on the top of our list. While the film is based on a book, which is a subcategory on this list, we thought this is the genre that fits it best. Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein is about an artificial but sentient man created by the scientist, Victor Frankenstein. The story takes a turn for the worse when Victor ultimately rejects the creature who then escapes and plots his revenge. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the movie stars Robert De Niro and Helena Bonham Carter, and Branagh himself.
